What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a natural healing philosophy, art and science, used in the United States for over one hundred years that concentrates on preventing disease and maintaining health. There are over 50,000 chiropractors actively practicing in the United States today and over 30 million Americans receiving care through chiropractic clinics.

Chiropractors focus on the body's “ innate” (inborn and natural) strengths and defenses to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery. They believe that misaligned vertebrae, referred to as subluxation, can interfere with normal body function, and if left uncorrected, can result in muscle and/or organ dysfunction, and other imbalances.

A chiropractor will determine after an initial exam, consultation, and in many cases X-Rays, if the patient's complaints can be alleviated and or controlled through chiropractic care. If patient and doctor agree that chiropractic care is an option, the chiropractor will begin to treat the patient to help restore the misaligned vertebrae back to normal position, allowing the body to heal itself naturally and maintain normal functioning.

Because chiropractic care is a drugless, non-invasive approach to preventing disease and maintaining health, in most cases it is also appropriate for infants, children and teenagers.
