Why Extremity Adjusting?

Many of us are familiar with the words of this song…”the foot bone is connected to the leg bone, the leg bone is connected to the back bone…”   It is a silly children’s song, yet illustrates a foundational biomechanical principle.  If the bones in our body are all connected then they will affect each other in a positive or negative way.

This term in the chiropractic community is labeled “Kinetic Chain”.  If our feet are connected to our legs, our legs are connected to our back, then it is safe to conclude that the condition of our feet will affect our lower back.  If our shoulders are connected to our neck, then we can presume that the functional integrity of the bones in our shoulder (clavicles and scapulas) will directly affect neck pain.

Our feet, shoulders, and spine all have great influence on each other.  It is clear to see that extremity adjusting is essential for providing quality health care that all humanity deserves.
